Caviar Times is an independent trade publication covering the legal caviar industry: CITES regulation and the sturgeon trade rules, aquaculture and production, import and export markets, and enforcement.
It is written for people who work in the trade — producers, importers and distributors, buyers for retail and hospitality, compliance and customs staff, regulators and investors. It is not a consumer food publication.
The label decoder parses the syntax of a CITES caviar label and applies published rules. It tells you what a code says and whether it is well formed. It does not verify that a plant is currently registered or that a permit exists — check the plant against its national register and verify permits with the issuing management authority.
The register is a directory of jurisdictions with links into each country's own page of the official CITES register. The underlying lists are maintained by the CITES Secretariat from filings by the Parties, not by Caviar Times.
